Made-to-Measure Pattern Making: Celebrating Body Diversity
Learn to make a fitted dress.
Every body is unique, yet most clothing is designed around standardised sizes. This workshop introduces made-to-measure pattern making as a way of creating garments that respond to individual bodies rather than requiring bodies to conform to industry norms.
Using your own measurements, you will learn how to draft a fitted dress pattern tailored specifically to you. Along the way, you'll gain practical skills while exploring a more inclusive, comfortable, and sustainable approach to fashion.
By designing from the body outward, we celebrate diversity, individuality, and the idea that every body deserves a great fit.
In this workshop, you will learn:
- How to take your own body measurements.
- How to translate those measurements into a garment pattern, using a basic fitted dress with darts as the foundation.
- How to test your pattern in fabric and refine it for an improved fit.

- All materials and refreshments.
- A small group experience (maximum 4 participants).
- Your body measurements, paper pattern, and fabric sample to take home.
